Although the most effective and fastest route to hypnotic regression is through using the services of a qualified hypnotist, it is possible to obtain equally exciting results through self-hypnosis.

To be able to use this technique to discover your past lives, it is important to learn the art of relaxation.

Relaxation Techniques before Past Life Hypnosis

Find a quiet room that’s free from distractions and disturbances. If possible, take the phone off the hook. Lie down and begin to breathe calmly to a set rhythm. Breathe in for three counts, hold for three and breathe out for three. By doing this, you are teaching your mind and body to accept a calmer state. Try practising this exercise at the same time every day, then you will find that your body and mind begin to calm almost immediately. Meditation workshops can also help you.

Now if you’re fortunate, you will begin to enter a trance-like state after about ten minutes after starting the breathing exercise. Don’t, however, be surprised, if it takes several weeks (or even months) of concentrated effort before you reach that stage.

Self Hypnosis Techniques to Discover Past Lives

Once you do enter the trance state, start to give your self hypnosis suggestions that you are moving back in time and that you are going to vividly remember scenes from the past. You want to relive them. Suggest “rest” on the journey back and note what happens.

Incidentally, you may find it useful to pre-record such suggestions slowly onto tape. This leaves you free to get on with the regression and it will also help you to carefully plan how far back you wish to go.

You must not forget to include suggestions that no matter what occurs, you are safe, secure and can always reach the present. This will help you to overcome the often unconscious resistance that your mind may build up, which can hinder your progress.

Past Life Analysis

Now as you lie, calm and safe, regress further and further back until you eventually reach your childhood. Enjoy the images of your childhood, hear the sounds, smell the scents of those long-ago days that should now be so real once more. When and only when you are satisfied that your trance level is deep enough and that the images you have raised are as real as they can be, you can give the command to “Go back beyond your birth”.

Tell yourself that you will now experience a previous life and that in this life, you will still be in full command of your faculties. Also, that you can return to the safety and comfort of your room at any time you please.

Few people will land in a past life the first time they use this method. Or indeed, during many subsequent tries. Some people report a strange feeling of limbo. Of a “bodiless” existence which many claim is the Astral Plane.

Anyway, if you often find yourself in such a state, don’t despair. It actually indicates that you’re close to more positive results.

Once you have experienced as much of the previous life as you feel you’d like to see, then it’s time to suggest to yourself that you are gradually returning to the present. Take it easy and return in carefully planned portions to gently awaken in your room. Keep telling yourself that there is nothing to fear and that you are completely safe.

Finally as soon as you come out of the trance state, be sure to write down your memories.
